Einführung in den Stream und Ziele
00:05:1900:05:19 Good morning, everybody, and welcome back to the stream. I am CCPOTN. It is bright and early here. It's only 11.30. But we did wake up not that long ago, and we're going to stream today. Today, we have a lot to look for. You guys have been playing all weekend. Those of you who have been hard on the grind all weekend have been looking for Technocores.
00:06:16 Hello. What a weekend. We had some crazy unexpected downtime on Friday that we resolved, I think, fairly quickly and shouted to you guys for your patience and understanding and the good feedback we got throughout it was super helpful and we appreciate that. We probably will maybe do a little bit downtime today. I would speculate just because the exuberance with which you guys have all taken to
00:06:44 Grinding out stuff here on the Frontier has made Stillness sit back and ask itself some questions. And so until we kind of stabilize, we're probably going to be doing more frequent downtimes than we have been in the past where we were doing it only like once a month. But I think we'll be getting back to that point here very quickly. Link twice if you actually do know. I legitimately do not know. I have seen screenshots of them.
00:07:37 I probably will need to build another ship at some point. But we want to do a lot of jumping around in this one. So the most important thing we need is fuel. Which I have some. I have about 14k of fuel right now. It should be enough to get us a ways away from where we are. We all have speculations. Yeah, no shit. But I need to pack up my stuff here before we get on our merry way. So I'm going to go ahead and start dismantling some stuff here. If I can pack it up.
00:08:33 Will the carbon issue be fixed this game? Or is this game just going to continue to disrespect our time? I don't feel like it's disrespecting our time. I can only speak for myself, obviously. But part of the reason we're doing the Founder Access the way we're doing it right now is because we want to... We want to continue to work on balance things. I mean, this is something that we have to...
00:09:01 We're looking for where all the little pain points are, and this is a good way for us to find out. So, we will see if it's a significant issue, which it may be. We'll have to go through and fix some things. But for now, these salvage materials are already pretty small. I can leave that.
00:09:34 Do I sound low? It's probably me. One second. It's probably my mic. My... I've had this issue before. Yes, it is. I'm about to blow your eardrums. Sorry about that. It is... Windows periodically will just say, hey, your microphone is not actually as loud as you think it is. It's actually much quieter than that. And it will drop me down from like 50% mic setting, which is what it's at right now, to like...
00:10:03 Which is not fun, Microsoft. Please, please. I don't know how to fix that. I would like to. But I do not. I'm going to turn game audio music down a little bit. Not any discredit to CCP Heretic. His audio is great. But I got some tunes on today. Let me know the music is too loud, by the way. I can only hear how it sounds for me. It sounds fairly normal.
00:10:32 While we're here in this system, let's save the option where some software can take control of the audio. But I did that and maybe it did fix it before. I may have to check and see if it's... You know, I can just do that right now while we're sitting here. Where is that audio device? Let's see here.
00:10:58 Allow Apps and Windows to use this device for audio, which is doing Okay, I think it's probably fine for now, we will see
00:11:25 Ja, es ist nicht eine SteelSeries-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie-Serie
00:11:50 So, let's start with the map.
00:12:16 Um, I don't have a ton of range here. My goal at some point is to go, I want to go either in this direction over here towards this kind of green mecha in the back.
00:12:57 So we're going to try this one. And I can't because I'm too hot. Okay. By the way, for everybody who has seen this and been disgruntled by it, don't worry. You're not the only one. We are as well. So I think there will probably be a fix for that coming here before too long. In the meantime, we need to find something a little bit closer. This Q3 maybe looks a little bit better. We'll find out.
00:13:23 Ja, see, problem is I've got too much stuff. If I was carrying less cargo with me, I'd probably be able to make these jumps. Do I have, do I need everything I'm carrying? What's so heavy? Man, it's all this reinforced alloys.
00:13:38 Und das ist das ich für meine... Hmm... All right.
00:14:12 We'll get out here, we'll cool down a little bit, and we'll see if we can make another jump after that. We will need more carbon before too long. Okay. Let's take a look at our map. What does this system look like? Alright. I am a little close to the sun. I could probably move further out if I wanted to cool down a little bit more.
00:14:35 And we've got carbon in here. Awesome. Okay. We are gaming. Let's go ahead and set up... How big is this system? 920 light seconds. Okay, this isn't too bad. We're going to go out to this far L point. Actually, you know what? We'll go to... I think we'll just go to this one here, P3L2. Why not?
One second...
00:15:25 If I hide my camera here real quick, you can see, yes, this is the terminal. It is the new Neocom. People have offered some feedback about this as well. I imagine in the future we'll probably be able to move this around or shrink it, make it a little bit more concise. This is the Keeper down here. It will offer some sage wisdom in the future. It is a, like I said, with all UI, UX things, this is all a work in progress. But this is...
00:15:53 So we have found a spot a little bit further away. I can get some more fuel here with the carbon in this system, which is great. So we're going to start by doing that. The first thing we need is to put down some base structures. So we're going to put down our refinery.
00:16:15 We're just going to put him here. We'll put our printer here. None of this is permanent because I don't suspect we're going to be here for super long. So I just want to sit down my four basic base elements. Get those going. And the only one I really need to put down is the storage container because I need to be able to upload the reinforced alloys.
00:16:42 I would much prefer to use them on something, but I don't have anything to use them on yet. See, now we're nice and cool, which is good.
Suche nach Exclave Technocores und Schiffsentwicklung
00:16:5000:16:50 So how do we find the Exclave Technocores? Hey, that's a great question. For people who do not know, I'm just going to show you. There's an item in the game already called the Exclave Technocore, and it's this. And it's an important element in manufacturing currently. You need it to get to the next level of gear after the starting gear, and no one can find them.
00:17:20 I know they are in the game. I have seen in the code where they are being distributed. And I know I have an idea of where they may be. But I need to find if that thing exists near where I am. But that is also why I'm trying to get away kind of from the starting regions. Because there's going to be just a lot of people around them. Actually, I wonder if anybody's actually found one yet. I could probably find that out. But I'm not going to. We're going to go in this thing blind.
00:17:48 Ich weiß nicht. Ich weiß nicht. Ich weiß nicht. Ich weiß nicht. Ich weiß nicht. Ich weiß nicht. Ich weiß nicht. Ich weiß nicht. Ich weiß nicht. Ich weiß nicht. Ich weiß nicht. Ich weiß nicht. Ich weiß nicht. Ich weiß nicht. Ich weiß nicht. Ich weiß nicht.
00:18:05 Ja, so you have, um, kind of the progression right now with regards to ships is that you have these starting ships that you all can get. The Recurve, the Reflex, the Reaver, and the Wind obviously is the baby, baby ship. Um, all of these are, um, like, are fairly basic, but if you wanted more intense ships, you actually have to get them from this Exclave ship line.
Yes, yes, yes, everybody. I've been told to show off... ...to the owner of the house. Hello, oh my god. Please, be cool. Look at this creature. Yes, good.
00:19:03 Okay, and she's done. Renamed it to the SUV. Hell yeah. That's very, very funny for me. Yeah, the old SUV. The Chevy Tahoe here. No big deal.
00:19:20 These are all getting big reworks, too. Obviously, these are placeholder assets, but the models themselves are fairly accurate. They just need textures and a clean up. But you can see the models themselves are crisp as shit. They are very, very good. And shout out to, I don't know their CCP name. We did a presentation fairly recently.
00:19:49 um maybe like a month or two ago about the the new um occlusion shader uh and it is it looks so good uh on these ships it looks really really good uh okay so we've put our stuff down let's go ahead and start dropping some off because i don't need to be carrying all the stuff with me while i'm here in fact i just need
00:20:14 Oh, I just need some more fuel right now. So we're going to make some carbonaceous material. So we can... Where's that carbon at? Carbon rock debris field. I think this is what it is. We're going to check it out. And we're going to see if we can get some stuff.
00:20:36 Is there a D-Scan or how does it work on the Frontier? So there's no D-Scan. There's no D-Scan, there's no probe scanner currently. We've talked in the past about a system we are intending to implement that would allow you to scan heat signatures. So you'd be scanning for things based on how hot they are. Obviously your ship becomes more or less hot depending on what you do with it. You can see your heat over here in the bottom right.
00:21:04 Okay. I think we're probably safe here. Oh, the sun is right there. So you're going to see us start heating up here really quick. You can see this yellow number here, 94.3. That's the ambient temperature around us, the external temperature. Our ship temperature will adjust to that ambient temperature. So if you're too hot, there are certain things you can't do. And also you'll be more visible if you're hot in a cold area.
00:22:02 What kind of timeline are players and developers looking for closer to release? And if someone starts testing now, will progress be wiped later on? Exodus, yes. So I think our public messaging says 2026, but it really just kind of depends. It's going to depend on a lot of different things. Obviously, we are in development right now. We're still in early development. This is still an alpha, more or less, while we're working at a bunch of the kinks in the system and implementing new systems and content.
00:22:43 We'll be continuing to add new content with each period. Some content in-game, some content out-of-game. We have a missions hub, which isn't quite working the way it's supposed to right now, but we will be getting that fixed shortly, probably sometime early this week. One second, I am receiving a ping from the man on high. Let's see what it says. I believe I know what this is.
Mission Hub, Blockchain-Integration und Spielmechaniken
00:23:1300:23:13 Okay, looks like we will probably be doing some downtime today. Not a big deal. But yes, so...
00:23:30 I will put a ping out here in just a little bit. We still have a couple hours before we're going to do that. So, yes, in the Missions Hub you can complete missions in-game and out-of-game. That will give you Grace. That Grace will, at the end of each cycle, be converted to Eve Points. And then someone down the line will see what Eve Points do. Who knows? Okay, we're going to get some Carbonaceous Ore and go from there.
00:23:58 So you can lower your signature with cooling down to be invisible. Yeah, so it's not implemented in the game currently, but that is kind of the vision, right? Where, like you can see right now, my ambient temperature is 94. I'm pointing at the screen as if you could see me pointing at the screen. 94.3 is our ambient temperature. That's just because of how close we are to the glowing ball of hydrogen over here. But our temperature is going above that because we're doing something, right? In this case, we're mining. So as we're mining, we're consuming fuel.
00:24:26 So if you, like right now, I'm pretty hot compared to, you know, the ambient temperature of the rest of the solar system, but right now I'm not that much hotter than I would be normally. If I was 101, you know, and the external temperature was like 34 whatever degrees, I don't know what standard we're using, I would be, I would stick out like a sore thumb, right? So that'd be, I'd be very easy to find.
00:24:56 Is this having any kind of connection with EVE Online? No, totally different game. We are in the same vein as EVE Online. This should feel... I've said this on stream and publicly a couple different times. If you're familiar with EVE Online, Frontier should feel familiar and perhaps comfortable in some cases, but it should feel like a distinct experience. And we're not...
00:25:21 We're not quite there yet, but we are getting much, much closer to that vibe, I think. But we are not there yet. Oh, Tambra's here. Oh, no. Does this stream include Kat? You just missed her. She poked in just a moment ago to get over here and shout at me. I put her on camera and she was me like, no. In fact, I will not. I would prefer to be anywhere else.
00:25:56 See if I've been...
00:26:04 All right, looks like we are probably going to be hitting downtime today at around 1300 UTC. So that's in about an hour and 10 minutes. So I'll probably stream until then and then wait for downtime and then start streaming again afterwards. Probably won't turn the stream off. I'm going to be going for a while today. I don't have any plans. I had actually originally planned on doing this yesterday and then I went to stand on a large rock instead and that was fun.
00:26:57 There are some things in there that are... I mean, you have to remember... So, we take a very... How do I say this? CCP Maximum Katz has this image he likes to use, where instead of giving somebody a wheel and saying, hey, we're going to give you a tricycle someday, we give them a skateboard and say, okay, someday this is going to be basically a bike, right? So the thing we're going to give you works, but it's not the fully fleshed out version of it, so...
00:27:24 While we don't have a bunch of, you know, shit-out, placeholder, half-assed battleships or whatever else, the ships we have now, these are very close to intended design for this ship line. And then we will be, obviously, introducing more ship lines down the road. I've been having so much fun. Everyone I've seen has been so friendly. Yeah, there have been...
00:28:12 Do we have an approximate full release date for Frontiers? I mentioned, I think some of our public messaging says 2026, but that's not a guarantee. It just kind of depends on whether or not we're ready to release. We certainly, I don't think we'll be releasing, we will not want to release early. That'd be silly. Okay, let's do this. Let's go ahead and...
00:28:35 Ich werde das Carbonatis-Ore hier reinigen. Ich werde etwas Wasser aus es.
00:28:45 We will have another patch this week, by the way. We've got one coming on the 18th, I believe. Love the blocky UI. Yeah, so the vibe of the UI will probably stay more or less the same. There are just some things about it that we're looking to adjust based on some of your guys' feedback. But I do love the... Everything in here should feel very utilitarian, right? The vibe of Frontier is much more like...
00:29:40 Ja, finding carbon is hard. I think we're probably some point down the line going to work on some better tools to find things. I really hope we put them into base building. I don't know that this is a thing they have planned, but I would love to have some kind of scanning arrays that you can anchor as part of your base to give you some more feedback about the area around you. We'll see.
00:30:13 Do you guys use AI for work? What is Agenda AI? Is drones bad or different? The only thing I've ever used AI for at work is compiling some notes, but then there's always a human oversight at the end of it. We would never use it for art or sound or anything like that. Although I did almost use it for a song that was going to go into the Frontier Keynote.
00:31:32 Hi, curious about this, but want to know, can you opt out of the blockchain part of this game? Not really. I mean, you can't opt out in the same way you can't opt out of the database part of EVE Online, right? This stuff exists in the background. Now, are you asking if you can opt out of interacting, like, buying, like, using people's tokens and stuff? Yeah, you don't have to. You don't have to do any of that. You can play the game like normal. You know, just... But it is much more in the same... My cat is now, sorry, cat is now outside looking at me through the window.
00:32:01 Um, menacingly. Uh, it's in the same way that, like, you know, you don't have to interact with Alliance off in EVE Online if you don't want to. You don't have to, uh, interact with Tripwire in that game if you don't want to. Will my PC be used to generate blockchain tokens? No. No, no, absolutely not. Uh, that's crazy.
00:32:27 Oh, no, no, please, God.
00:32:34 Don't understand how the tech is meant to work? Okay, so a blockchain is a ledger, right? It's just a fancy database. It allows you to basically confirm information without needing a central server to confirm that information. It's a way for computers to talk to each other, be sure of the things that they're talking about without having a centralized point of truth. Basically, truth is just...
00:33:27 You can go in here and write GameState. So what it allows you to do is, if you're a programmer, you can go in right now and you can anchor SmartGate and you say, hey, SmartGate, I only want this gate specifically to turn on when somebody approaches it and is able to present this passcode that we give out. If you create this certain, not passcode even, but like, let's say you create a passport.
00:33:54 All right, you print it on chain. And now you have this passport you can give to people. It's an item in the game, but it has a hash you can give to people. And people can then bring that up to the gate and say, hey, I have this passport. I want to go through. The gate will let them through. By the same notion, you can take that exact same passport and say, hey, gate, if somebody comes up to me and or comes up to you and doesn't have this passport or has an expired passport, then I want you to shut off the gate and I want you to turn on the guns because they're not welcome here.
00:34:23 You can go even further than that. You can say, hey gate, I want you to not open up for anybody who does not currently follow me on Twitter. I want you to close the gate. If somebody walks up to you and cannot confirm they follow me on Twitter, they can't get through. And that's how you can do it. There are truly so many things that you unlock when you allow people to write game state.
00:35:15 um the the the reason why gates are so useful and you'll you'll find this out more and more the more gates get built uh in game as we found out in previous playtest people will use the gates if they can because jumping just costs so much fuel and it's hard to bring that much fuel with you when you're doing brown all right um looking back through here
00:35:59 The playtest we did last year, we did a hackathon during that playtest, where somebody had effectively mapped a control of a gate in-game or control of some element in-game to a button on their desk that was controlled with a Raspberry Pi, where if they pressed the button, it would basically turn on or off the thing in-game. And then you could do all kinds of stuff with that, too, which is nuts. Okay, so, any more... What am I at here?
Weitere Gameplay-Aktivitäten, Technocore-Suche und Entwickler-Einblicke
00:36:2600:36:26 What am I doing? Alright. Okay, so I have finished my refining. We need to refine water ice so we can get some more fuel. I can get three jobs out of this. Yeah, we're just going to be getting fuel for a little while today. And then we're going to go out and try and try and rather jump a little bit further and keep looking for technocores.
00:36:57 So here's my guess. I don't know this for a fact. So this is all speculation. But I am speculating that these Technicores are at a site somewhere. Or part of a site. And I kind of think they might be part of one of the generative sites. So if you don't know what a generative site is...
00:37:34 Communication module debris. All right, we're going to warp over there and see what this is. They are building their own little hive in part of the universe. And over time, the structure will build out and you can basically harvest more things from it, farm more things from it. I kind of think they might be in those, but I don't know that for a fact. So, we will see.
00:38:10 Alright, there are some... Okay, there are no baddies here, which is good. We're gonna go ahead and open these up real fast.
00:38:38 Z Frontier new update or a separate game? Separate game! Affenem. Totally separate game.
00:38:45 Why no discount on packs for release? We'll probably be doing a discount here before too long. Uh, we're also planning a, um, uh, more fossilized exotronics. Let's go. I'm gonna need those. Uh, we're also planning a free period here before too long as well. Uh, so people can test out the game if they want to. I don't know exactly when that's gonna be. I'll have to check with, uh, the, uh, oh, and yeah, that's what I thought. I was a little bit too close to that. All right, slow down.
00:39:13 So wait till I drift here. Do what angle I end up at. You have to be a little more aware of your controls. One of the things I like to do is to start turning and then just stop my ship pretty quickly. It gets you almost a tighter turn. It's not going to do it this time. I wonder if I can shoot this gap here. Let's find out.
00:39:40 Nope, I was too close. Or not as close as I thought I was. Not a big deal. Okay, so yeah, we'll probably be doing a free period here before too long. For people who want to test it out. Give it a shot. How do I register in-game name with Eve to TwitchBot? We do not have name registry for this bot yet. That integration does not exist in Frontier.
00:40:05 But if you're trying to do it with EVE Online, you can do exclamation IGN. We'll let you register your in-game name in EVE Online. So if EVE Online is World of Warcraft, E-Frontier would be Age of Conan. Kind of. It's more we talk about. We're going to loot that as well. Thank you. We've got some Exotronics. There's nothing in the world. We're going to go back and get more fuel. So I need to go to that Carbon Octave Ruby Field. There we go.
00:40:33 We talk about Rusk, Rust-A-Lot. Would he be using vulnerable contracts be considered an in-game action? Still at one Homeland Security knock on my door and ask me a question about how I frauded an in-game fuel station. I mean, write better contracts, I guess. The bot isn't here, you can go to any channel, leave it offline, reach your IGN. There you go.
00:41:00 Ja, we talk about this being like Rust a lot more than it is or like DayZ as a mod. That's kind of where Frontier started out, was as a test of some things for EVE, but it has flushed itself out into a fully independent project.
00:41:25 that is totally separate from EVE. There are obviously a lot of things in here that you'll never see in EVE Online and vice versa.
00:41:42 JZ Like that band, ZZ Top. Yes. Listen, I wasn't normally like this. You guys made me this way. I used to say Z. And then I fucking came to Europe. And now it's, oh, JZ, JZ. A, B, C, D, E, F, Z. You know. That's how the alphabet works. Another American loss, I know. Yeah.
00:42:11 I don't feel too bad about it though, if I'm being honest. In the grand scheme, if I'm trading a weird pronunciation for the last letter of the alphabet for effectively free healthcare, I will take it. Anyway.
00:42:32 Vanguard is cooking right now, by the way. They're kind of low-key. At least they have been low-key recently because they are doing some huge improvements to that game. And this is not me just shilling the game. I'm just telling you in terms of things I have seen with my own eyes. I think they're doing a big playtest here in a couple months that is totally worth checking out. Hell, I will probably even check it out and I'm very, very bad at shooters.
The Color doesn't change, it's not Kulur. Ah, yes, come inside and look at the lovely Kulur on my walls. Yes, I'm wearing this burgundy sweater today. Ah, yes, the Kulur really matches my eyes. Kulur, give me a fucking break.
00:43:32 Aluminium. I mean, it's Aluminium. Unbelievable. I'm such a European right now. I have such a fancy calure.
00:43:52 I think there's not a ton else to see in here, so I'm just going to be able to get carbon and then move on. I could check out this Ocrita Survivor for Surveyors, but I don't think there's anything useful there. Hang on. There you go. I've got a crick in my neck. What happened to Sodder? Did US forget the L? I need you to solder that down, please. We need to put some solder on those contacts.
00:44:33 Iceland is awesome, as is Finland, but you need to be sure you can deal with sad. I'll be honest with you, that did not bother me nearly as much as the endless sun has. And I know I'm kind of a weenie probably for saying that, but the sun is so much worse than the dark. And mostly just because of how it affects my sleep schedule.
00:45:01 I think maybe part of it too, just because I live in the city, so Reykjavik isn't exactly dark at night. Not that it's like crazy bright or anything, but it never gets, it never feels like it's like, you know, you're in the dark, I guess.
00:45:31 Uh, Overlook, we can do it now if you want to. I'm sorry, doing work stuff. Uh, I can, I mean, if it's only gonna take a couple minutes, it's not a big deal, but it's up to you. Uh, okay. We continue on. So we're gonna move some ice around, uh, because I need some more room in my storage here. This also, another thing that's gonna be getting a rework here for too long, uh, so you can, uh, my god, output your, you can deliver to a storage container. Uh, what a dream that will be.
00:46:01 We're going to run this job. There we go. Alright. Yeah, seasonal affective disorder. Blackout curtains. I have kind of in my bedroom. I need probably more intense.
00:46:21 Blackout curtains for my bedroom. I want to be very clear. I sleep very well. I don't really have issues with sleeping. But I sleep less now. Just because if it's... I don't know. 3 in the morning and you wake up to piss or something. And you walk out of your bedroom. And you catch a glimpse of daylight. Of just straight up the sun. Just chilling on the horizon. You're like, ah, I see. I...
00:46:50 I cannot see. I cannot sleep now. Your body is like, yep, time to wake up.
00:47:31 All right. Well, while we're waiting on this, I'm going to grab a drink. I'll be right back. Hang tight real quick.
00:48:14 Okay. Alright, got some of this spicy ass water here now. Nice. Shout out to Bone Aqua for your delicious spicy water. Ah, that's good stuff. That's good stuff. Ah, look at me. I've been properly Europeanized. I'm drinking carbonated water. Oh my god. That's so good though.
00:48:44 Spicy water tequila. No, I do have tequila. It's over there. Uh, that's, listen, that is not spicy water. That's, that's, that's the god's nectar is what that is. That's the good stuff. Only five days till the socialists that you can start the healing? Yeah, there's shit.
00:49:07 How does one get involved with playing Frontier? So right now we're in Founder Access. Founder Access means you can buy Founder Pack and then you have access to the game all throughout development. And then you get some stuff, some cosmetics and some game time when the game starts. Like when we actually launch, launch, properly launch. Those packs start at around 40 USD. You can go to eFrontier.com slash Founder Access to see those.
00:50:07 Hang on a second. OBS is doing something funky. Maybe I just need to move it further down. Hang on. Where's the Twitch chat? There we go. No, I mean, it's right. It's just like, oh, I see what it's doing. Okay. Hmm.
00:50:36 All right, we're going to change the dimension of this box. We're going to do like 300 by 600 maybe? All right, this is going to look funny for a second, so everybody will be cool. Hmm. What if I do this, but then I change it to like 800?
00:51:01 Nope, that's too much. Try 700. Without no pixels. Uh, that's better. Okay. We'll do that, and then we'll do... Kind of move it around. See, it's still... It feels like it's not...
All right, gimme one second. All right, das ist obnoxiously big. Okay, I will persevere. We'll do that and then this.
00:51:59 This is not just overview chat, by the way. I will actually be playing the game. This is bothering me, so I'm gonna fix it. Let's do 540. Let's do 560. There's a weird dead space at the bottom of the box. I don't know why it's doing that.
00:52:24 I'm sure it's just a clipping thing, probably in the module itself. It's fine. I'm just being finicky. It's all good. Okay. I have water. Let's go back to our refinery real quick. I can deliver this. Beautiful, now I have a lot of water. Oh, wonderful.
00:52:49 Okay, so we're going to move this down here I'll move this back up here so much water. This is good. Okay, we want to Go to our refinery again and we'll go to find this water and we will do Yes, beautiful We'll have truly so much fuel by the time this is done
00:53:15 Oh, ja, sorry. Listen, it's just a Spotify playlist. This was just like 80s Japanese city core, but... Uh, this is... Idol, right? This is Yasobi.
00:53:48 Das ist ein guter Song. Ich weiß nicht, was ich will. All right. ...dont... ...need diese Ice. ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
00:54:40 Sorry Chat, it's a good song.
00:55:14 Okay, let me see here. Alright. Oh good, fix the issue with the...
00:55:22 Okay, so you're not alone, certainly in that. There is probably a balance issue in there we need to address at some point. Just because I know that it has affected a lot of people. There is an issue right now where people cannot, like if you jump into a system.
00:55:50 You don't have any way of knowing if the system that you're jumping into has the stuff that you need for fuel. So I think it's not even necessarily... Not every system should have everything. That should be clear. But maybe jumping early, at least the heat cost for jumping is a little bit prohibitive right now. So we... Hang on one second.
00:56:40 What was I saying?
00:56:45 Oh, right, the heat cost of jumping is probably a little bit more prohibitive than it should be. But we'll get that addressed. Did you lose all the stuff in storage when you dismantled it? No, it gets kicked into this cargo container over here. I am going to leave it here because while there's a lot of nice stuff, it's not what I need right now. So I can go and get more of that stuff later if I need to. But it is right here in that container. I'll just say free to a good home. If someone wants to come along and take it, it's all theirs. Okay.
00:57:14 We are now going to be looking at extracting ourselves from this system. Let's go to... I'm going to warp to this L-point real quick so we can get it even a little bit cooler.
00:57:28 We just need to have heat occlusion for Celestials so we can hide in the shade. Easy, right? Kappa? Yeah. It may not be as bad as you think it is. And this is, I know it's definitely in scope. It is being planned. That is a CCP wizard task, I believe.
00:58:02 I've been getting so many Discord notifications from...
00:58:41 I think if I go this way, out that way, I can kind of cut up this way afterwards. So I really want to aim for this one here. So we're going to try that. And I can't get there yet. It's okay, we can do an intermediary jump. We can jump to this one. For sure. And then we'll cool down, eat some more fuel, and then go to the one after that.
00:59:10 Ahead and put that fuel in a little fuel now What's the system we're in look like oh My god, okay. Well good news is we're out about as far as we can get This is a really good system. Wow. This is a really good system. Holy shit There's so much stuff in here, okay, we may actually stay here for a while carbon metals
00:59:38 A lot of metals. Okay, yeah, we're gonna stay here for a little while, I think, because this is the richest system I've been in so far. Oh my god. Alright, we may actually just live here. How big is this system?
00:59:55 Es ist es so the size of the system matters because if the system's too big you Can very quickly find yourself in position where like it's like cost prohibitive just a warp around the system There's one I was in the other day. It was like 27,000 light seconds across it was nuts, okay, we're going to go to This one because there's carbon nearby
01:00:23 Medals nearby and a rock ash repeal nearby. So we're gonna go to this point here. Okay, this is really, really good. In fact, I might be able to just... I wonder if I can... I still need Technicores, though.
01:00:43 What made you decide to make this a blockchain-crypto-based game versus a normal game? There's just stuff that we want to do on the tech side that you cannot really do the way we want to do it. It's just a normal, like a standard database. We've talked about it a lot in a couple different podcasts, or not podcasts, but streams we've done and presentations that were done at FanFest. Obviously, those are all on YouTube, so if you want to go check those out, you certainly can. And it's just a...
01:01:42 You know how many systems in this game has? It looks like a lot. Yeah, 24,000, 24,500. So it seems like you would not ever see anybody. But in the past, players have absolutely found tools to find where everybody else is. And while some of those tools are getting reworked...
01:02:03 oder restricted in some way, like, yes, it should be possible for you to hide and not have to worry about running into somebody else, but at the same time, you know, there should be play and counterplay, right? Play, I want to hide. I want to make sure people can't find me. Counterplay, there should be tools available for people to be able to suss you out, right, and hunt you down. And those are in progress.
01:02:32 We're not in here yet? Uh, right now we're just looking for Technicores. Um, yes. Let's see. Let's see.
01:02:47 Can you confirm whether it's possible to build ships larger than the Corvettes in this cycle? Yes. You just need Technicores. Sorry, I read that out of order. Okay, let's throw our base stuff down here real quick. And then we will get this show on the road. Because I'm going to make some use of this system, I think. Alright, we have our refinery. We have our printer. Put him here. We've got our refuge.
01:03:18 The Refuge is always the one I'm never sure if I need to carry it around with me all the time. I kind of think I do. But I don't do that much refitting because I don't have that much stuff to refit with. I do want to try... I need to build a legitimate printer because I want to see what some of the... Oh.
01:03:49 Das ist weird. Hier we go. Um, was das? Just an old... I need to build a network node, is what I need. So I have... I need carbon weave, thermal composites, printed circuits. Let's look at what those, uh, require.
01:04:10 Carbon weave, I need carbonation materials. Man, it would have been nice to have those that I just dropped off. Printed circuits, I need silicates and carbonation materials. Good news is I need carbonation materials and there's a carbon belt right next to me. So I would also really love another cutting laser to cut my time in half. Printed circuits and carbon weaves. Okay, so we're going for the same thing anyway. I just need more carbon, more carbon in general. So as soon as my sword unit here is done, I'm going to drop this stuff off.
01:04:5101:04:51 Ja, so this is a question we get asked a lot. And it's a good question. I mean, it's actually the first question I ever asked CCP Helmar the very first time I heard about Frontier when I was on the CSM for EVE Online. It was, why are you building a game that competes with your flagship product? And the...
01:05:18 The answer is a little bit more nuanced than you would think it is. The biggest thing is it's just a different kind of game. EVE appeals to players for a lot of different reasons, both sunk cost, the scale at which things operate on in EVE, certainly the fact that it's a finished product in many cases.
01:05:47 But also, there are people who, Eve has been around for a long time, it's been around 22 years. And while people like me, who have been playing it for a long time, certainly feel a sense of ownership over it and the stuff in it, there are some people who just never really felt like they could quite get in, or people who have felt like they started too late and they can't really ever catch up. While it's true that you could just, you know, I guess buy a bunch of plaques and buy a bunch of stuff and catch up that way.
01:06:47 In fact, I could probably build... I should have probably brought my refinery with me and build another refinery. Actually, I am going to do that. Because I can refine down there and it'll take up less stuff. That's actually a good shout. Okay. We're going to bring our refinery with me.
01:07:18 A lot of people have negative feelings towards blockchain games. Fair enough. How are y'all dealing with this? Unfortunately, I have friends that won't even give the game a try to be a crypto-based game. Yeah, I mean, I totally get that. There is, just looking at the... Some other products in this space. A lot of them aren't great, if I'm being honest. And that is a stigma that you just have to work through. Our... Our... Driving...
01:07:46 ...inspiration, oder driving light throughout this entire process has been, and will continue to be, forever. Uh, that if we make a good game, uh, it really does not matter. Um... Uh...
01:08:31 And that's honestly the way it should be. I mean, if there are, you know, legitimate reasons why people have those issues, and there are people who are just never going to give it a shot, and I totally understand that. But my hope is, and this is kind of, this is, I think, played out in the past. I feel fairly confident in saying it, but I feel like for people who have given it a shot, and, you know,
01:09:29 Ja, you know, Tina, das ist ein Ding, too. Ich will be very clear about it, because a lot of people feel like there's this weird competitiveness between Frontier and EVE, and it's just not true. When both of our games succeed, we all succeed. And that is how...
01:10:13 But also in return, Frontier has been able to contribute things back to the engine as well and back to the way development works. Obviously, I've mentioned it a couple different times, but the big Python 3 upgrade last year was huge and will be coming to EVE as well. And it wouldn't have been possible if we hadn't had Frontier as a testbed for it.
01:11:10 You certainly would not fly me out from the fucking United States to live here, if that's what you're trying to do.
01:11:31 So, Walker, the issue is, there are a couple, not every site, but there are a couple of sites where the trigger for them being completed isn't quite firing the way it's supposed to. We have a fix coming for that as well. I know CCP Relativistic was working on it yesterday, or talking about it yesterday. We're basically just putting in a backup trigger to those.
01:11:58 So that they are getting fired off when they are supposed to. And all it will do is despawn the site. So if you see one, patience. But yeah, that is something we're aware of and a fix is certainly coming.
01:12:29 Was vehemently against for two until Wednesday? Yeah, it's a It is a it's fun. It's it is it like and I again, I want to be As straightforward as I can about it. I fully understand why people think the this is You know are skeptical or have their criticisms or concerns or think that we are dumb for even trying it but
01:12:57 I mean, fuck it. Life is short. Try new things. If it works out, awesome. I think it will. And if it doesn't, we've learned a lot of cool new things along the way. Everybody who ever tried something new for the first time had a lot of people ask them why they didn't just do the thing that was the safest the first time. Everybody who ever tried something new the first time. So...
01:13:23 Ich glaube, das war es erwähnt. Es kam mit der Territory. Aber es ist nichts mit dem Wissen. Es ist Spaß. Es ist Spaß. Es ist Spaß. Es ist Spaß. Es ist Spaß. Es ist Spaß. Es ist Spaß. Es ist Spaß. Es ist Spaß. Es ist Spaß. Es ist Spaß.
01:13:37 Is the game public now? Yes, it is public. We are... I have killed... Well, I shouldn't say I have. The good people at CCP and our gracious leadership team have decided it was time to pull back the NDA. And for that I am forever grateful. But yes, our NDA is gone. Players are free to stream, which is what I'm doing right now. Or, you know...
01:14:05 Okay, I think I'm out of cargo space. So I'm going to drop the stuff that I get from this off. Actually, I think I need to jettison this so I have enough room. Yeah, I do. It's okay. I will use this jet can as a secondary cargo for while I'm doing this.
01:14:34 You miss every chance you don't take. Hey Kogel, you're absolutely goddamn right.
01:14:41 You were disappointed when you saw the game run in cycles? It's an inevitability of the development process. The game, as we're adding things and making large universe changes, there was no way for us to keep the universe consistent while we were doing such huge sweeping changes. It just wouldn't make sense. The cycles will end at some point. They will end at launch, I suppose. But until then, while we are in alpha, while we are still in alpha,
01:15:10 Active development, we will be doing Cycles.
01:15:15 I probably missed you talking about it earlier because I just got on. But how are you going to fix the kludge that is refining manufacturing? There are a couple different fixes coming for refining manufacturing soon. I don't know if they'll fix every issue that everybody has with it. But I know that they are iterating constantly and reading a lot of feedback. So I appreciate the feedback you have all given. Even if some of it is certainly very passionate, it is all useful for us.
Alpha-Status und Feedback zu 'EVE Frontier'
01:15:4201:15:42 Mark, can you reiterate every two minutes of the plugs this is a work in progress and not a finished game? You know, listen, I do think just being able to say like, oh, it's an alpha, it's an alpha, it's an alpha is kind of a crutch. You know, obviously we're public now. We want people to be able to see what we're working on. What I try to reiterate for everybody is not just that, hey, you know, we are immune from criticism because we're an alpha. It should never, ever be anything like that. Instead,
01:16:11 My position is, yeah, there's going to be plenty of shit in here that's just straight up broken, or not working the way we want it to, or whatever. And I want people to call us out for it. I want to know when there's something in here that somebody doesn't like. And the reason that's so useful is obvious, right? We have so many eyes on our team that watch the game constantly, but it's very easy for us to...
01:16:38 Lose that sense of perspective just because we work with it every single day. When we get a fresh set of eyes in, and anybody who's ever worked on any creative endeavor will understand this is why editors exist, right? You can sit there staring at your own thing all day long and get kind of blind to it because of how just how familiar you are with the product. So I have no issue.
01:17:06 ...getting called out for things that are fucking busted. And I encourage people to do so. In the appropriate channels. Because it's much easier for me to collate the information that way. You should really add the frontier addresses to the announcement. Add the frontier addresses to that announcement for the frontier streams. What do you mean? The frontier addresses.
01:17:38 Hypothetically, Frontier Bombs, will some of its better features be added to EVE? Um, that's... I don't... Uh, no. I don't think so. Oh, hang on a second. Oh, to the Moobot. Okay, sorry, 4-7. Yeah, it... Uh... I see what you're trying... Yeah, we should. And I probably will, but I think I'm gonna need CCP Convict to do that, maybe. But thank you for pointing it out. That's a good show. Um...
01:18:07 The long and short of it is, the stuff that is portable to EVE probably already will have been ported over at some point, which is to say the improvements to the server, or to the database, or like, the improvements to the engine, that's what I was trying to say. Those are already being worked out, but if you mean things like occlusion, things like...
Sehr, sehr resource-intensive.
01:19:27 in Frontier, in which tie-dye still exists, obviously. It's a carbon feature. There was a hundred versus... I think there were maybe a hundred total people on Grid. And because of some of the things that they had set up ahead of time, there were a lot of unique elements on the Grid, and that sparked tie-dye. It wasn't crazy tie-dye, but it was a little bit. And we haven't seen it since then, and that was a couple months ago. Or, it was probably even back in December, I think.
01:19:55 Maybe December or January. We haven't seen it since then. But if you were to try and implement those same systems in TQ, you would just fucking nuke the server immediately. So the short answer is yes. The long answer is probably not the ones you're thinking of.
01:20:14 Lord, please put the Increase Tick Rate in Eve. It's too much. It's too much. The technology does not exist that can handle that much information coming all at once. You have to imagine how many, especially on some of those bigger grids, when you think about how many things are happening in each server tick coming through the node, it is a...
01:20:38 Staggering amount of information. I would be shocked if those nodes don't just glow whenever they're under 10% tie dye.
01:20:48 I've never played EVE Online for the exact reasons you mentioned earlier. I am curious about this game, but it looks quite complicated. How difficult is the learning curve for basic movements and interactions? Well, here, I'll just show you what it looks like. I, first of all, need to do some cargo management. Don't mind me. Where'd my... Oh, right, my can. I need to jettison this so I can open up that can again. Open cargo. Okay.
01:21:20 I will show you in just a moment. Okay, so I can deliver this here now. Okay, let me put this in here. Now I can deliver it. Beautiful, okay. So now what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna go and... I need the carbonaceous ore though. I'm gonna refine the water down to fuel because it's smaller. And then I'll refine the car... I think I can just keep the carbonaceous ore like normal.
01:21:51 Okay. Uh, I don't need that much. Here we go. Can I do one more? No. I'll do that. Okay, I think I can put this back in here. I guess I can. Okay. Yeah, the carbonation material is what we need right now, because we need it for some other stuff. Um... Can you convince someone to make a plaid warp bubble? That'd be very, very funny. Shout out to Spaceballs. Uh...
01:22:18 Yeah, so game controls are pretty straightforward. We don't have, so the way this works, and it works the same way it does in EVE, there's not a, I've always said that this is the most complicated point and click adventure in the world. Basically, you find a point in the universe you want to go to and just double click there and your ship will actively move in that direction. You're basically giving a command to your ship to go that way.
01:22:43 The same thing in reverse, obviously, this way. You have your speed bar down here. You can adjust your speed that way. Control space stops your ship. You can also just stop it by clicking this button here, dragging it around. Interacting with the universe is easy. You just right click or left click in space. You look around, obviously. Zoom in and out can zoom a little bit. I want to stop my ship. Please stop. Thank you.
01:23:07 Zooming in and out will let you see more of your ship or less of your ship. In EVE you can zoom way out. You can't really do that in this mode in Frontier. That's intended. We want it to be a little more dynamic. Now we did introduce the new tactical camera, which is this one you get from F2, which you can zoom way out with. This, people have complained.
01:23:28 With good reason. This is kind of game-breaking right now because it's obviously the better camera. I think what's probably going to happen is that we will see a future somewhere where this camera can be used, but you can't interact with the universe on it. It just gives you information, but you can't be clicking around and things in here because it's super broken. And then, of course, we also have the solar system camera, which you can access to see different things in the solar system, like this one. For example, a great solar system that we are in.
01:23:55 I don't know what this bubble is around this I feel like that's a bug I'm gonna ignore it for now excuse me why are you so sexy in alto Nora it's just it's the bathroom it's the bathroom it gives off the wrong impression okay let's go ahead and get our fuel out of here oh we have so much fuel now thank God do I still have my can no I need to create another can all right
01:24:26 Oder ich kann diese Fuel up. Oh, danke Gott für Fuel!
01:24:32 Where did I put that can at? There we go. Okay, now we have this can open. What we can do is... This is part of the jank people have complained about for a good reason. Managing inventories is a little tricky right now. And it's a legitimate concern. Okay, we have our carbonaceous materials. I think that's all we need for right now. I can't refine any more water. I could do...
01:25:01 No, this is good for now. We're just going to take this back. I think we can take everything back. Yeah, we can. Cool. The only other thing I really wish we still had was the targets menu. The circle thing that would appear here. I think we may get that back at some point. Obviously, this is just an iteration of that.
Zukunftspläne und Entwicklung von 'EVE Frontier'
01:25:3001:25:30 Take out the cool thing about the new camera view. Listen, I'm just saying it's broken the way it is right now. It could be better. I'm not saying we're going to break it again. I'm just saying. Game launches will have everyday downtime as EVE Online? No, not necessarily. So, in the past... Where's my shit? There it is. In the past, we have not had daily downtime. We've had monthly downtime.
01:25:59 And I suspect that will probably be the case in the future as well. We will have less frequent downtimes than you would suspect. Just because we're doing some different things. And obviously the database is not nearly as big as the one in EVE. So Stillness does not quite have the same amount of material that needs to process.
01:26:27 You're new to this game. How do you add equipment to a ship? Well, first thing you need is this guy right here, a refuge. You can build it in the B menu, like so. It's over here. You just need some metal-rich ore to build it. It will allow you to open up the fitting window. Am I going to hit this? I'm not. Hell yeah. The fitting window is this little arrow-looking guy down here, bottom left. You open that up.
01:27:12 I understand it's kind of a slapdash together version of it currently. It will be getting fixed. Okay. Will I also lose my UI UX settings when changing PC? Probably. Probably. I know that for a fact. I have not tried it, but I think you probably would, is my guess. Right here it's gone in multiple weeks without downtime. Yeah. Yes.
01:27:40 The eye candy is way better than a fan guard. Ah, come on. Give me a break. Happy Sunday Funday? Yeah, thank you, BT. What part of the game do I work on? I am a community developer. So you are the part of the game that I work on, ironically. I am blessed to be a member of the community team for...
01:28:03 Frontier, certainly. Myself and CCPDigent are the two community developers for Frontier, or who are assigned to Frontier as our primary projects. CCPDigent is much more involved in the Web3 space of Frontier, and is a super cool dude if you ever get a chance to talk to him in Discord. He's a real homie.
01:28:28 Just joined the team fairly recently, but is as much of a go-getter as I have ever seen one. That dude jumped in headfirst with very little knowledge about the game itself. And I think he probably knows more about it now than I do. So he's absolutely chomping at the bit and is a really, really fun guy to hang out with. But I also do some stuff on EVE Online as well, obviously. I've done some stuff in the Alliance Tournament before with...
01:28:57 CCP Overload and CCP Zealous and all that gang. And we'll do roams, of course, and stuff on Fridays with CCBB and everybody else. So we have a good time. The community team has been the most supportive group of people I've ever worked with in my entire life.
Und so machen Sie, so machen Sie, so machen Sie, so machen Sie, so machen Sie, so machen Sie, so machen Sie.
01:30:14 You are a nightmare? Ah, nah.
01:30:19 We did find Ninja Turtle Bargis once, too. That was great. Does CDB actively take suggestions and feedback from the community into consideration? Yes. Amazing Blue. Yeah, that's what Founders Access is all about. In fact, if you go there right now, you will see a constantly spinning list of feedback generated every few minutes in the two active feedback channels.
01:31:15 was players are looking for. At least try to be attentive to what players are looking for. Players are... I mean, it doesn't make any sense to design a game agnostic of players, right? Like, they're the people who are gonna be playing your game, who are gonna be paying for your game. Like, if you design a game without them in mind or without their desires in mind... Now granted, you don't want to handhold everybody, right? You still want to... If you gave players everything they ever wanted, you'd have the dumbest, easiest game that would also be...
01:32:32 A friend of mine, I think his older brother played EVE, and he brought out a printed sheet of paper that had all the different ships in the game at the time, and the different sizes compared to each other. And the Titans were huge, and the Supers were huge, and the little frigates down there next to them were very, very small.
01:32:52 And I was captivated by it back then. I can tell myself, I know exactly where I was standing in my middle school band class when I first saw that piece of paper. I can picture it right now with my waking eyes. I know exactly where it was. And, you know, now it's been, I mean, 19 years later. It's been, you know, the better part of my life to get to this point. I have the best job in the world.
Ja.
01:33:4901:33:49 Is this a test period for public, or will you guys reset the server later? Yes and yes. It is a test period. Well, no, not a test period for public. We are public. We've removed our NDA. We are fully open now, so you can see people have been streaming, people have been sharing screenshots and videos. I posted a super cool new player video that one of our players made.
01:34:12 So if you check out the Frontier Twitter or just find us on Facebook, you'll see the link to that there. I think that guy posted it on Reddit too, the eFrontier subreddit. So you can find all those places. So we are public in that sense. However, we are still paid Alpha. So it's the base pack to get into the Alpha for development.
01:34:34 which will get you in throughout all development, is $40. But we also do free periods periodically. So we'll do free periods. We'll probably be doing another one here before too long. I imagine we'll probably do another sale on Founder Packs here before too long as well. I don't know that for a fact, so don't take it with a grain of salt. But I imagine that will probably be happening here fairly soon, just in terms of how they've happened in the past.
01:34:57 And yes, we will be resetting the server. Every two months, we will start a new cycle. Two-ish months, we'll be starting a new cycle. And each new cycle, we will introduce new content, introduce new systems, all kinds of cool shit.
01:35:13 And we'll do periodic resets during those, at the beginning of each of those cycles. The only thing that carries over between cycles right now are your Eve points. You can complete missions in-game currently that you can interact with on our hub. It's not quite working the way we want it to yet, so just bear with us on that one. It'll probably get fixed early this week. But those missions will grant you grace.
01:35:41 Grace is something in lore that the Keeper, which is sort of this guy over here in the bottom left corner, the Keeper is sort of the steward of the universe as it exists currently. The Keeper gives you grace for completing these missions. That grace gets converted to Eve points at the end of each cycle, and the Eve points carry over between cycles. And what they are for, I guess we'll find out.
01:36:03 We're still technically looking for technocores. I've just been doing a lot of yapping and not a lot of refining currently. Yes. Will there also be some API? There is currently. I mean, that is what the chain is. It's kind of an open API.
01:36:29 We have a thriving builder community, by the way, if you are interested in how that all works. We have a ton of really, really knowledgeable people in there who have been building some cool, cool, cool stuff. Shout out to, I mean, basically everybody in that group. I don't want to single anyone out.
01:36:53 But if you've seen the really cool map from the previous cycle that had all the little orange lines connecting systems showing all the different gates that people put down, that was made by Aquila, who's one of the builders. If you want to join that community, please do. It's super cool. If you join our Discord, discord.gg slash eFrontier, and go to the Rolls channel, just look for the Builder Roll, and you can hop in and see what they are all about.
01:37:19 Any word in the last 48 hours on when we might expect updates to the docs and builder examples or did I miss the bus in the memo? Check with Azriel, check with CCP Red Dragon in the builder channels. We'll be able to provide more information. My guess is probably not in the last 48 hours because it's weekend and most people are off unlike some of us. Well, I mean technically I'm off. I'm doing this in my spare time. This is not work, for the record. This is not work.
01:37:47 But I would say probably Monday. We'll know more about that. So we'll see then. Docs will get worked on this coming week, he said. There you go. Thank you, Aki. Shout out, of course. Of course. Everyone to Aki. Aki, you do not know. This man is about the coolest dude you're ever going to run into. I love this guy. He's a very, very good dude.
01:38:15 Better than I deserve, certainly. What was I doing? I wanted to make a cutting laser. I need printed circuits, I need carbon weave. Carbon weave needs a lot more carbonation material than I have. So I'm going to have to go get some. Okay, not the end of the world. I just need to do some more mining. Let me drop off the stuff I have already. I'll drop off the fuel as well. And the water, because we don't need that. And we go back out.
01:38:53 Can you expand on the benefits of the premium post-launch sub? I cannot yet, because as far as I know, the details have not quite been decided yet. So I will be able to tell you more in the future. I cannot tell you more right now. I would just be speculating, and I do not know.
01:39:11 Hey, Happy Father's Day to everybody agreed. I will probably call my father here before too long. It is a little early where they live, so I'm going to give it a little bit to let them wake up. It's also my grandmother's birthday today, fun fact. So I have to call both of them. But I do not want to wake them up at the asscrack of dawn, so I'm going to wait a little bit.
01:39:34 My god, can you imagine? No, I'm the only person dumb enough to wake up at 10 o'clock on a Sunday to stream the game. We have a lot of lovely personalities on our team. You've obviously seen our token Scotsman, CSP Overload, of course, out here as well. CSP Goodfellow, our game director, has come on stream several times. He is...
01:40:03 our glorious leader, our noble commander. We also have, of course, CCP Maximum Katz, the hermit who lives on a mountain on our team, who appears, shares wisdom, and then disappears again. You've seen CCP Relativistic in streams before, who is one of our crack astrophysicists, sorry, tame astrophysicists, rather than not cracked astrophysicists. CCP Wizard, another one of our astrophysicists. You've seen...
01:40:32 CCP Paragon, CCP Lookup, our game designers, you've seen CCP Sondheim, one of our blockchain engineers, CCP Red Dragon, another one of our blockchain engineers, CCP Legolas, another one of our blockchain engineers, CCP Router, our technical director, CCP Texford, our game development director, game design director, game something, he's one of those director types.
01:40:57 There are a lot of us. A lot of us. You're just going to see me a lot because I'm the one who yaps the most. And in this business, baby, that's what matters. You know what I mean? Let's get back to mining.
01:41:39 You also got to meet the UIUX folks. Yes, CCP Heartbleed, CCP Layoutlord, and CCP Hex. My very, very good friends who are hard at work sorting through a lot of feedback about the UI from this cycle.
01:42:00 Will there be a way to play E-Frontier without doing any PvE? Certainly not. No. I mean, it's a survival game. You have to go out and fucking kill rabbits to eat them. Same kind of thing that applies here as well. Director, director, director, and where is worker? All the game designers are workers. All the UI UX designers are workers. I'm a worker. CCP Overload technically is a worker that you'd be shocked to see it.
01:42:28 Based on, you know, how much time he spends playing GeoGuessr at work. It's a joke, of course. It's a little bit if you can confirm. CCPcat, of course, who's laying here next to me. She's having a big chat nap currently. She's very, very sleepy. It is the middle of the day, of course, so it's time for her to sleep. Yes, actually, that's a good point, AI Bags. You could just technically hunt the ones who are doing PvE.
01:43:18 You're a director and no one in your company works more than you. Saturday, Sunday, holidays, all the rest of you don't. Our team works very, very hard. I am just in the fortunate position where I get to show off the cool work that everybody else does. I have to do basically nothing. I just get to reap the rewards by way of showing everybody all the cool shit that everybody else works on. So.
01:43:46 Wonder if Technicores come from Asteroids as they pop out as Rare Drop? I don't think so. I think, I think they come from a site somewhere. Uh, is this thing gonna show up in my assets? Just wanna make sure. There it is. No. Yes, there it is. Okay. My refinery. Um, I was gonna look elsewhere at some of the sites in the system. Turrent Feral, Exclave. I feel like...
01:44:14 I'm gonna warp this at 100 and see what it looks like. I think I'm probably gonna get clapped if I go in right now. So I'm just gonna look at it, but I'm gonna align out. I've been alive for nearly two hours and a lot I've done is mined carbon. That's true. I always, like, I start these streams with a goal in mind and I always just end up talking the whole time.
01:44:43 Which, depending on what you're looking for in a streamer, this may or may not be the stream for you. But I do my best. So at least try and be interesting. Okay. Termit Frigate. Interesting. Okay. I don't see any cans in here, so there may...
01:45:14 I wonder how dangerous these things are. Something else that we need is like a... We need like a skull over them if they're super spooky. I actually can't even see this shit. Why is the camera not working? I think it's just because of the angle. Oh yeah, it's just because they're too far away. Are they occluded for me? No, they're not. They're just too far away. Maybe? Are they actually enemies or are they cans?
01:45:47 Ja, sie sind sie? Okay. Ja. Ich habe keine Ahnung. Ich kann keine Ahnung. Ich habe das in eine Korvet. Oh, 100% getaubt. Murky Outer Field? Was ist das? Ich habe das.
01:46:19 Mining laser hull tank? Ja. Ja. Ist EVE Online now a survival game? No. Guild Umbra. Not really. EVE Online is not really a survival game. Not in the traditional sense. Frontier aims to be a survival game. And we are getting closer to it. But we're not quite there yet. Will those Asher's have a chance to give you something in your inventory as many of you guys? For sure. We are looking at some point. Actually, they may be involved now. I think there are jackpot mining sites in the game currently.
01:46:50 Murky Asteroid Field, Deep Core Metallic Estasium, okay, this is actually a great system. If I had better stuff, it'd be a really, really good system. But I do not have better stuff currently. Oh my god, there's so many good Asteroids in here. Okay. Nothing I can use here yet. Oh my god, look at all this stuff in the center of the universe though.
01:47:43 Real question out here, when do you think E-Frontier will have its first ever article E-Frontier is dead? Oh, done. Done. It has been... Well, I mean, I guess the question is, do you think dead on arrival is somebody saying E-Frontier is dead? Because we've been hearing that a lot. But, no. There are frigates in here. A lot of frigates in here. Oh my god.
01:48:12 So far away, I don't think I can get there without dying to these frigates. I'm going to try. I'm going to try. See if he notices me. Be cool, frigate, be cool. I'm just chilling. Do I have... Oh. I was like, why is it using so much capacitor? It's because it's my pole repair, not my afterburner. Actually, I need to go up.
Ja, ich do. Ich muss... Oh, es ist all der Weg auf da. Uff! Okay.
01:49:44 Hier, so in this little space I'm in right now, let me slow down a little bit so you can see. I'm kind of in between a lot of things. See all these ones that have the triangles, the edges are kind of knocked out? Those are now occluded from me, or at least he is. And he is down there too. So they can't shoot me right now even if they wanted to. Okay, there we go. That's what I want. I don't know if they're going to try and kill me if I start stealing their stuff.
01:50:13 We're going to find out. Could I put an AC on that reflex? An AC? Like air conditioning? That would be smart. You mean autocannon? Yes, I should probably do that as well. What up Kbat? Salutations. Welcome to the stream. I am streaming for as long as I can today.
01:50:43 As long as they will let me. We'll see. I may take a break to get lunch here in a little bit, but we're going to be going for as long as we can. I think these guys are just going to be cool. I feel like if they were going to kill me, they'd be doing it already.
01:51:02 So we're just gonna try and play it cool. Be cool over there, guy. Just gonna take a look at him. Yeah, see, he's just chillin'. I think he's asleep. He's not even moving. He's moving a little bit. But not much. Okay. Please be something good.
01:51:27 I feel like the amount of effort I've put into this has not been very high. Okay, I'll take those exotronics. And then the other one's up here. Yeah, see, they're just chilling. They're just being friendly. I mean, just look at this shit. Just look at it. Oh. Oh, the fog. Incredible. A lot of cans are empty.
01:52:00 Exotronics are important. I did need them. Alright, let's find a different place to go while we're up here. I did want to... So this is the Bombardment Cannon, right? Yes, it is. I feel like there's one more other place. I think everything else is Asteroids. Yeah, those are all just Asteroids. I'm going to work with this drone nest at 100 and just see.
01:52:31 I really don't want to die until I can put down a network node because I want to be able to respawn here. This is a great system to respawn in. I have to be careful. What happens when you're killed? Do you start over at your beginning area or do you have to make a new character? No, you start over at your beginning area, but you don't start over at the exact beginning. It depends. If you die after you have set a respawn point, you just respawn at the respawn point. If you die before then...
01:53:02 Oh, just these two frigates. Okay, but it's just these two frigates. So I think... Once I have an AC, I'll be able to come back here and kill these guys. Okay. Alright. Let's go back to my refinery, because I think that job is done now.
Gameplay-Mechaniken und Community-Interaktion
01:53:2201:53:22 Turveyor is only two NPCs, you probably handle that. Yeah. Please give us bookmarks, Hulkamania. You'll probably not be getting bookmarks. We want to introduce more systems for being able to denote locations, but bookmarks are so broken. They are a very easy way to break the game.
01:53:45 So we will be able to put more stuff out there before too long that will give you more tools to note where things are and broadcast those locations to other people if you want to, but bookmarks as they exist are just, as somebody who uses bookmarks a ton currently, a ton, take my word for it, they are pretty game-breaking.
01:54:16 I'm going to Cargo Container. Is the building update out? One of the building updates is out. We, of course, are always doing more stuff. But we did have a big update out, certainly.
01:54:32 Can you explain to us why the Aces are displayed in green, orange, and red on the map? Oh, I can't yet. I think it's an arbitrary thing currently. What they mean is this map here. Why some are orange, some are red, and some are green. I can tell you that these are all different civilizations. Exactly which one is which, I guess it's up to you to find out.
01:55:07 We can you made you drop warping party or work sorry dropping work partway to your destination Probably not that way, but I think giving new Avenues for new interactions with warp would probably be cool But whether that's gonna look exactly I cannot say Let me go ahead and while I'm doing this I'm going to put this
01:55:37 Wasser in, so we at least get it running. Since it's so big, I can run three drops of this.
01:55:48 I don't know exactly when Heat stuff is going to be getting another edition. We do have another patch coming out on the 18th, is what it's planned for right now. And then we'll just be in development. I think we're going to be talking... What's the word for it?
01:56:14 ...Roadmap, hier before too long. I don't know when that is... ...going to be made public, but I know they are working on it. So we'll probably have a stream about it here before too long. We'll bring some people on to talk about that. But I don't know for sure when it's going to be. Do we all have to be Crypto Bros together to play this? No, you do not.
01:57:03 Okay, so Aki made this really, really good video. It's just an image. It's the image of the, it's from the trailer, of the Stargate that is like glowing blue and this fog all around it. And it's got the muted Caramel Danson over the top of it. And the colors go from blue to, it just cycles through a different hue, okay? So...
01:57:29 I saw that and could not stop watching it for maybe a full-on week. Just a week straight, I think. To the point where it was almost unhealthy. And then afterwards, I was like, I need to make it. For when the NDA goes away, I need to cook something up. And so I made the video about the NDA going away with...
01:57:57 Caramel Danson, uh, and the initial E-Frontier trailer. Uh, which perhaps is a little bit degenerate, but I regret nothing.
01:58:14 NDA actually lifted? Yes, Janitor. It is gone. As of Wednesday, it is dead and in the ground. Thank God. I was compelled to respond. Yes. I had no choice.
01:58:44 One of the things I find, just looking through some stuff on Discord here real fast, one of the things I'm really enjoying seeing is people already cooking up their own mini-wikis about things. One of the things that has made EVE so approachable for people in the future, or in the past, has been this is sort of wealth of information that people have put together over time.
01:59:12 And seeing people already starting to assemble that is so good. You open playing anime music? Ah, give me a break. Listen, it's a good playlist. I'm not mad about it. Anybody who's ever seen any of my past streams will know this is like the lock-in music.
Any plans for NFT implementation? Not in the way that you're probably thinking. Like, are we just going to create... Things that are on-chain are singletons. That's just the way that... That's the base state for something that exists on-chain, is a singleton. So, if, for example, you have a ship that is printed on-chain...
So, zu Use, what up Tamia? Let's talk for a second about the Swipple.
02:00:52 So, when the Swimple first got released, it's a Tech 3 Destroyer in EVE Online. When it first got released, it was cracked. It was absolutely gigabroken. It was really, really strong for what it was. And it became kind of a problem, actually, that it was just really, really strong. So it got nerfed, as these things often do. It did catch a nerf. However, in Frontier, if...
...a... ...a... ...unique Version of das Ship. Kind of like, imagine owning a car, right? Let's say you have, like, a classic car. Like, a 1970s... ...like, um... ...uh... ...like, um... ...I don't know. Like, a really nice 1970s Hot Rod, right?
02:02:42 Does it sound like a nightmare to Balance? Eh, a little bit. What up, Lex? Salutations. Good to see you guys, too. It just means that we have to be very careful about Balance. Just like anything else. I mean, it doesn't change anything. And the thing, too, is that if you have this ship now, suddenly this ship is worth quite a bit more. I mean, if people decide it is a broken version of the ship or it's really, really good...
02:03:09 Now you just have a more valuable version of that ship. And that may be worth something to you, maybe worth something to somebody else. It may be, you know, so good that it's not even worth undocking it or worth taking it out because you're afraid it'll get killed and then lose all its value. You can still destroy it. You can absolutely still destroy it. Just like anything else.
02:03:35 You're right, Azra, you could let them burn the ship and receive a new ship one-to-one, but you couldn't do it in reverse. I don't know why you... You could potentially want to if the old version is worse than the new version, but if the old version is better than the new version, then you would never have any reason to want to do that.
02:04:01 I mean, that's not true at all. You run the simulation and that simulation frontier can just ignore any properties it wants to. No, that's not true. That is what digital physics are for. There is an immutable game state or immutable condition to the core fundamental aspect of the game universe that ostensibly, once we set it, cannot be changed. That will keep us from going through and fucking around with things like this so that people can be assured when they have something like that that things are going to exist in that way.
02:04:32 We're not going through and changing the laws of reality here. Once they're set they're set. That's why we need to be careful about setting them.
02:04:43 What will be the naming convention for new ships? How will we know if they're against certain forms of ships? That will become evident over time. I don't really have a good answer for it right now. That is a great question for CCP Dramaturge, who we will 100% be having on here before too long again, because they are great to talk to, and I know are chomping at the bit to talk more about lore and stuff. And universe conditions. Okay.
02:05:15 Rebus the best ship as opposed to threat to account security and permanent loss of items I mean potentially yeah me you just have to be careful just like anything else would you be able to sell that ship for blockchain currency and you could sell the ship to somebody else in game and even right now you just pay them with ask which has a correlation to plex it's the same kind of idea
02:05:37 Alright, we have more fuel, which is good. I'm gonna do one more pass of this. I think that'll get us enough carbonation material for the next thing that we need. I think. Alright, we'll do one more pass.
02:06:01 I know you like the pancake a lot more, Jotun. Yeah. Yeah. I miss the Groose. Here's my baby. Alas. Can we scam as much in EVE Frontier as you can in EVE Online? Hey, you can... Listen. The world is your oyster, baby. Go out there and seize it. You know what I mean?
02:06:21 Never enough carbonaceous material? Ja, das scheint zu sein. A lot of things need carbonaceous ore. What I really need, what I'm going to do first, is a second laser. Because, my god, I could do this twice as fast if I had two lasers.
02:06:45 Deeper Pockets means you can buy everything. That's not true. I mean, yes, it is true that if you have Deeper Pockets, you can buy everything. But at the end of the day, you still need to be able to pilot the ship. Like, if you're just shit at the game, it doesn't matter how much stuff you have. You'll just die. There are plenty of people who, every day, Wallet Warrior themselves into these, you know, blinged out ass, you know, caps and, you know, AT ships and whatever else on TQ.
02:08:00 NFTs be used to immortalize old battles and ships with the... Yeah, I mean, that's one of the things... So AFK Brain Rot Luke Goblin 69, first of all, thank you. Second of all, yeah, I mean, one of the things that I find the most compelling use of like singletons in a game sense is the ability to track certain special things back through the history of the game. Like imagine finding a ship and knowing that, oh, this ship was the ship that, you know, did X, you know, you know.
02:09:23 And at the end of the day, you can still kill everything in game. I mean, that is the balance of this, right? Where it's not just that you own, you can have this ownership of these things in game. You can also just strip, like if somebody else owns something, you just fucking kill it. You just go to their place and take it if you want to. That is the difference. You can just take their stuff. Let's see the evidence of old damage on ships. It's actually a really, really good idea.
02:09:54 Like lingering battle scars? I do like that idea.
02:10:18 On-chain battle damage would be sick, yeah. If it was written to the actual state of the ship itself, like damage that cannot be undone because it is just a core component of that ship now.
02:10:41 Kill male NFTs will take 10% of that idea. I don't think that's your idea first. It's not a bad idea. I mean, listen, the one thing we're never going to have in this game is fucking monkey JPEGs. I want to be very clear. Everything is going to have a gameplay element involved in it. There's nothing more abhorrent, I think, in the Web3 space than just monkey JPEGs. It's just a cheap way to cash in on the ignorance of people who don't understand what they're getting.
02:11:09 Singletons are super cool. Being able to define with math that a thing in a digital space is unique is super, super cool. That being said, using that to exploit people sucks. And that's not the kind of game we're trying to build here. We want something that is... Everything that you see in-game on-chain is going to have a utility in-game on-chain.
No Monkey JPEGs, Kat JPEGs wäre okay.
02:12:10 Every ship built is unique. Not currently Amazing Blue, but that is the long-term goal. The long-term goal is that every ship you build is unique. In one way or another. What I would really like to see, and I don't know if this is in scope for our team for development, I would really like to see variations in the design and manufacturing process for individual ships and modules and weapons and stuff.
02:12:39 with a skill-based element so that you could just be a better craftsman of items in the game. And so you would then be able to sell those items in-game to other players as branded for you. This is a so-and-so brand exploration corvette. Only the finest come out of our industrial furnaces. That kind of energy. That's I think what we should be aiming for.
02:13:08 All right, I think I've got my last pass on this. So once this is done, we will head back over to our base and start consolidating. So Eve the RPG, hey, always has been, baby. Always has been. Where do I purchase and download the Founder's Edition? So you want to go to evefrontier.com slash founder access. In fact, I will just go ahead and type it out here real quick.
02:13:34 Frontier.com-Founder Access will take you to where you want to go. You can check out more information there. Did you build ships with built-in logic to access Gates infrastructure? Screen PC, that's a great question. And at some point I would like there to be a kind of automatic interface between those things. Because sometimes pulling up a dApp and waiting for it to load can be kind of a pain in the ass. Or just having a delay can be kind of a pain. So we'll see. Who knows?
02:14:03 How more or less complex will Shift be compared to EVE Online? Um... That's a good question. Direct with a Y. Direct with a Y. Um...
02:14:14 I think the answer is that I don't really know yet. I know that we are changing the way ship fitting is going to work. It's going to have some different elements in there. Some things probably will be removed from EVE Online. It will be a different kind of experience. Just because there are some different things we want to try and accomplish from a game design point of view. So we'll know more then, I suppose.
02:14:45 Alright, I'm going to do one more pass on water here real quick to try and get rid of some more of this. I'm so close. Okay, I'm going to do a little bit more so I can have enough water for one more pass.
02:15:09 Ja, so, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das ist, das
02:15:42 One example is hull repair, repair structure. Yeah, I mean structure is your hull. Your hull is the structure of your ship. Armor goes on top of that. Shields go on top of that. Okay, I think we have enough now. I can do one more pass of this. Please God. I'd like to do just one more pass. And then we can head back over there. And start to build out some stuff. I would like another cannon. I'd like another...
02:16:08 We'll see. You know how the Mac performance is? I assume fine. I don't see anybody complaining about it. Or complaining about anything unusual, I should say.
02:16:20 Having items with craft names who left the game was awesome. Yeah, Gratis, I absolutely agree with you. I think, I mean, that is kind of like the most obvious implementation of the tech in my mind. That is the thing we should be doing as an absolute baseline. That is one of the most simple and straightforward ways we could use this.
02:17:20 Let me ask. I don't think so. But I can try and find out. Somebody's selling it. Ugh. Somebody in the company is trying to sell a drone, and I'm always tempted to buy drones if I see them. Ugh.
02:17:48 I have to resist. Okay.
02:17:57 Not necessarily. You can still buy and sell things with the in-game currency. You don't have to, you know, some things obviously you can be able to use tokens for, the tokens that other people have printed, tokens that, you know, our own currency that we've put in the game. But there's also just Lux. Lux is just a normal game currency. You can buy and sell stuff that way.
02:18:25 Alright, I've done this. We have a lot of carbonations material now, thank goodness. We're going to put this down here. I have water. Wait a second.
02:18:42 Okay, this is good. I have water ice. I can put the water ice in here. Actually, I think I may have gone... I may have overshot a little bit, but that's okay. Because now I can do 3,000. Oh! Oh, so good. Okay.
Findet etwas, das Spieler will enjoy spielen.
02:19:24 I think we're getting close. So I have 520 space. Oh, I have too much stuff. Let's take a moment, 264, it's all that fuel. Alright, I may have to take this back in two trips. Okay, I'm gonna take the fuel first. I'm going to go back to my storage.
02:19:52 The good news is not too far away. Yeah, that's what I've been saying, Azriel. It is the kind of game that for some people just really scratches the itch. Whatever that thing is in the back of your brain that just really gels with this sort of thing. This is the kind of game that I enjoy playing. I just am lucky enough to also get to work on it.
02:20:20 Beautiful. Alright. So dark out here. Where's the sun? Oh, it's over there. Okay. Alright, we're going to drop our fuel in there. And then we will go back to the refinery and get the rest of our stuff.
02:20:48 Okay, looks like they're looking to do downtime here in just a short time. So we probably will be going to call this here in a few.
02:21:02 I will go ahead and... Hang on. You guys will watch me ping in real time. Watch this. Slowness updates. And we will be taking a brief downtime here in the next few minutes. Get yourself safed up. And we will be back in action shortly afterwards.
02:21:35 Messaging is out. Alright. So we should see that timer start shortly. Let's keep an eye on it. Let's see if we can get our stuff scooped up and out of here before we have to jet on out.
02:21:56 Should be about a 10 minute timer, I think, on this one. That's usually how long it lasts. There we go. That's what I want. Let's go ahead and dismantle this guy here. I need to go up there and grab this.
02:22:16 Ich habe das. Ist da etwas in das can? Ich denke so. Es ist mehr Wasser. Ich werde das hier. Ich werde es später kommen. Okay. Dann gehen wir zurück. Wir gehen zurück. Wir gehen zurück.
02:22:41 All right, friends, that is going to be it for us for now. We will be back in action here before too long. I will probably do another ping later. We'll probably start the stream back up after downtime. I'm going to grab some lunch. So expect to hear from me maybe again in an hour and a half or so. And until then, be good, take care of each other, and I will be back here in just a little while. Enjoy the next hour and a half, and I'll see you when I get back. Later.
